The Key West Police Department is a law enforcement agency that works towards protecting the lives and properties of the citizens and visitors, preserving the peace and preventing crime and disorder while constantly guarding personal liberties. It offers a range of citizens services that includes firearms permits and release, accident reports, alarm permits and auto release. The Key West Police Department maintains a Special Operations Narcotics Unit, Support Operations Bureau, Key West Mounted Patrol, Patrol Operations Bureau and Investigative Operations Bureau. The department supports and conducts various community policing initiatives and neighborhood meetings, as well as maintains a community affairs division.
