Monica Polcz, M.D., is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgery at Baptist Health. She is fluent in English, Hungarian and conversational Spanish. Using advanced laparoscopic, robotic and general surgical methods, Dr. Polcz treats conditions affecting the abdomen and the foregut (esophagus and stomach). She went on to achieve her master’s degree in biomedical engineering while finishing her general surgery residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Dedicated to advancing surgical care, Dr. Polcz conducts research on patient outcomes and medical device development. She has published multiple chapters in major surgical textbooks and participated in national committees that develop surgical guidelines. She currently serves as an expert consultant for the well-known medical podcast “Behind the Knife.” She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, The American Hernia Society and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
