Michael Cohn, M.D., is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic hand and upper extremity surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care, specializing in the treatment of hand, wrist and elbow disorders. Dr. Cohn is a high-volume expert in ultrasound-guided minimally invasive procedures and injections and is the first orthopedic hand surgeon in the Boca Raton region to offer ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release, ultrasound-guided cubital tunnel release, ultrasound-guided trigger finger release and many other minimally invasive procedures that are typically performed under local anesthesia. Dr. Cohn has special expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome. He diagnoses these common nerve compression syndromes during a single office visit using ultrasound examination rather than requiring the patient to see a neurologist for an electromyography and a nerve conduction study. Patients choosing surgery for definitive treatment of these conditions can schedule the ultrasound-guided carpal tunnel release and/or cubital tunnel release procedures to be conveniently performed in the new, state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center. These procedures do not require medical clearances, are less painful, require fewer postoperative follow-up visits and offer a reduced recovery time compared to open and endoscopic release surgery. Dr. Cohn earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He remained at NYU to complete a fellowship in surgery of the hand and upper extremity, where he was elected chief fellow. In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Cohn has published work in multiple medical journals, including the Journal of Hand Surgery and Bulletin of the Hospital for Joint Diseases. He is a member of American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is also a Titleist Performance Institute Certified Golf Medical Expert. Dr. Cohn’s passion for orthopedic hand surgery stems from his desire to help patients recover from injuries and return to the activities they love as quickly as possible. He strives to get to know his patients and understand their goals in order to tailor a treatment plan that is best for their individual needs. In his free time, Dr. Cohn enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, staying active, hiking, playing golf, snowboarding and fishing.
