For more than 50 years, the Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management has served the Miami-Dade community. The department is one of the largest government owned and operated waste collection and disposal systems in the southeastern United States. In addition to providing waste collection and recycling services to more than 300,000 households in unincorporated Miami-Dade County and nearly 10 municipalities, the department owns and operates one of the most technologically advanced waste-to-energy facilities in the world. Residential services include garbage and trash collection, automated garbage collection, bulky waste pickup, trash and recycling centers, home chemical disposal, electronic recycling and curbside recycling. Commercial services include disposal facilities, disposal fees, permitting, apartment and condo pickup and business recycling. The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management is located in Miami.
