The mission of the Miami-Dade Elections Department is to ensure that elections are free, fair, accurate, convenient and accessible to all voters throughout Miami-Dade County. The department ensures adherence to local, state and federal election laws; maintains accurate voter registration records and election related reports; and serves all citizens and municipalities in election related matters. As the largest metropolitan area in the state of Florida, Miami-Dade County is often referred to as the "Gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean." The community is located along the southeast tip of the Florida peninsula. It is bounded by Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean to the east, Everglades National Park to the west, the Florida Keys to the south and Broward County to the North.
