Dr. Crenshaw is the medical director for the Clinical Genetics Program at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital and also serves as an assistant professor with Johns Hopkins Medicine. Her research interests include congenital heart defects, chromosome abnormalities and Turner Syndrome. She has additional expertise in the genetics of congenital heart disease and connective tissue disorders. After graduating from Cornell University as a Cornell National Scholar and Hughes Research Scholar, Dr. Crenshaw received her medical degree from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Syracuse. She completed a pediatrics residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in Falls Church, VA (a teaching affiliate of the University of Virginia), followed by a three-year medical genetics training program at Johns Hopkins University’s McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine in Baltimore, MD.

She has made numerous research contributions, especially in the study of inherited ciliopathies, for which she has earned international recognition.Dr. Gunay-Aygun received the Innovative Leadership Award from Genetic Alliance, as well as the NHGRI Merit Award for her research on Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease/Congenital Hepatic Fibrosis.She is a member of myriad professional organizations, including the American Society of Human Genetics, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Pediatric Research and the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders.
