Founded in 1923, the commission is one of the largest locally owned electric utilities in the state. It is governed by a five-member commission that includes the mayor of Orlando. The Orlando Utilities Commission owns the Curtis H. Stanton Energy Center and portions of other power plants in Florida, as well as eight water treatment plants. It serves more than 196,000 customers throughout the state. Additionally, the commission provides comprehensive outdoor lighting services for a wide variety of commercial applications, such as industrial parks, sports complexes and residential developments.
