Luis Compres-Brugal, M.D., is a board-certified neurologist and director of the neuroimmunology/multiple sclerosis program at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Compres-Brugal earned his medical degree with honors from the Universidad Iberoamericana School of Medicine in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He served as chief resident during his adult neurology residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in multiple sclerosis and neuroimmunology at the University of South Florida, supported by the National MS Society. During his fellowship, he served as sub-investigator in numerous clinical trials aimed at advancing the field of multiple sclerosis and neuroinflammatory conditions. Recognizing the significant impact these conditions have on a patient’s life, Dr. Compres-Brugal is passionate and committed to providing an evidence-based, multidisciplinary approach that addresses each patient’s unique needs. He takes the time to listen to his patients, and he collaborates with other medical specialties to provide comprehensive care. Dr. Compres-Brugal is fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Galvez earned a Doctor of Medicine degree at Universidad San Carlos Facultad de Ciencias Medicas in Guatemala City as well as at the State University of New York in Albany, N.Y. He earned a master’s degree in neuroscience and behavioral biology at Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Seville Spain and a master’s degree in health services administration at Barry University in Miami. Dr. Galvez’s clinical training includes an internal medicine residency at New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, where he served as chief resident. Her clinical interests and expertise include the use of neuromodulation for the management of pharmacoresistant epilepsy and women's issues in epilepsy, such as catamenial epilepsy and epilepsy during pregnancy. Italo Linfante, M.D, is the co-director of interventional neuroradiology at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Linfante specializes in endovascular procedures and interventional neuroradiology. He is fluent in English and Italian. Dr. Linfante joined Miami Neuroscience Institute from Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, where he served as medical director of interventional neuroradiology. He is currently a clinical professor of radiology and neuroscience at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. He previously served as an associate professor of neurology and radiology in the University of Massachusetts’ Section of Neuroendovascular Surgery/Interventional Neuroradiology and was attending physician in Neuro Endovascular Surgery at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Linfante has participated in major clinical trials in medications and device-related technology to treat stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases. He has lectured nationally and internationally on related topics. Dr. Linfante has been a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Stroke since 2002 and an associate editor for the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He has also been an editor for several other major peer-reviewed medical journals in neurosurgery and neuroradiology.
