Established as a migratory bird refuge, much of this wildlife refuge is marsh or swamp and is accessible only by boat. In addition to the birds – there are about 215 species detectable – the swamp area holds many kinds of fish and even alligators.

Beautiful & unique area to walk & bike. Be alert & don't have your head down in your phone or u may become gator bait. I go here often & see about 4 gators on average. IF they're facing the water...
