Fort Foster State Historic Site is a recreation of an 1836 fort originally constructed by Col. William S. Foster, serving as a strategic outpost during the Second Seminole War. Located within the Hillsborough River State Park, the site offers guided tours and living-history demonstrations that showcase the daily life of soldiers and the historical significance of the fort's defense efforts.

Visitors can explore an interpretive center that houses over 100 artifacts from the site, contributing to an understanding of the tensions between the Seminole nation and the U.S. military. Additionally, special events like the Fort Foster Rendezvous and the Candlelight Experience provide immersive experiences into Florida's rich heritage and cultural history.

Great spot to relax and watch the water! The wind from the water made a 80 degree day feel cool. Plus, your surrounded by the state forest if hiking is more your thing.

The main attraction of this park, the boardwalk, is deteriorated and closed due to state's failure to maintain it. As a visiting tourist this was a major disappointment. Go elsewhere.
