History
Kate began by teaching high school students introductory fashion design and construction courses while she was in college. Then, as she was entering her junior year, Florida State University cut the fashion program due to budget restrictions, leaving the incoming Freshmen and Sophomores with the choice to learn two years worth of material in one summer or change majors. She spoke with the head of the program who endorsed her curriculum as a way for these students to catch up to the Junior class. Since then, she has continued to teach her fashion portfolio development classes and has expanded the curriculum to include Advanced Fashion Illustration, Pattern-making, and Garment Construction.
