About Derek K. Paul MD, FACSGeneral, laparoscopic, and oncological surgeon Derek K. Paul MD, FACS, provides compassionate care to patients at his practice in Vero Beach, Florida. He has worked in the community for 24 years, and is highly-rated at the national level.Dr. Paul completed his undergraduate education at Boston College and the University of Miami, earning a bachelor of science in chemistry with a biology minor. He then attended New York Medical College, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida, and served as the Trauma Chief Resident, Vascular Chief Resident, and General Surgery Chief Resident.Following his medical training, Dr. Paul has worked as both the Vice Chief and Chief of Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital (fomerly known as Indian River Medicial Center) in Vero Beach, Florida. He also presently works as a clinical assistant professor in general surgery at Florida State University College of Medicine.Dr. Paul is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of its committee on applicants. In addition, he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Surgery, and a member of the Florida Surgical Society, Indian River County Medical Society, and American Society on Breast Surgeons.Dr. Paul has been honored with Castle Connolly Medical, Ltd.
