Polk County Property Appraiser, headquartered in Bartow, Fla., provides market value of property to the residents of Polk County, Fla. The agency searches, lists, and values taxable property in the county. The process involves valuing more than 320,000 portions of land and buildings. It also values more than 29,000 business accounts and over 31,000 mobile home accounts. Additionally, the agency values more than 100,000-acres of citrus land, pasture and phosphate land. It also processes a variety of assessments and evaluations including, administering more than 120,000 homestead exemptions. The agency also determines property entitled for agricultural exemption and the eligibility of various religious, charitable, educational, and municipal property for tax exemptions.
