Hilary Howard, DO

Dr. Miller specializes in pediatric and fetal cardiology at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She works closely with Sarasota and Manatee County community practitioners and hospitals to offer the highest level of cardiac care to the children, pregnant women and adults with congenital heart disease in this area. She is the medical director of the Sarasota Memorial Hospital Pediatric Echo Lab. After completing her pediatric cardiology fellowship at UCLA, Dr. Miller became the director of fetal cardiology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and associate professor of medicine in the UCLA Department of Pediatrics. Having relocated to Florida in 2010, Dr. Miller is now an associate professor of medicine in the Florida State University School of Medicine and an assistant professor of medicine in the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She has published multiple scholarly articles on pediatric and fetal cardiology and is a mentor to medical students and fellows. She has a special interest in preventative cardiology and lifestyle medicine.

Dr. Talluto is a cardiologist in the Johns Hopkins All Children's Heart Institute. He joined the hospital staff in 2021. He specializes in adults with congenital heart defects and adolescents who are transitioning into adult care. Previously, he was an adult congenital cardiologist and a pediatric cardiologist at Fairfax Inova Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia, where he was head of the adult congenital heart disease program and co-director of the exercise physiology lab. Dr. Talluto created a transition program for adolescents and teens to transfer into adult care and created and implemented guidelines for appropriate use of exercise testing for patients with congenital heart disease. He has special interest in pregnancy and congenital heart disease, as well as exercise and preventative medicine.Dr. Talluto completed his pediatric cardiology fellowship at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He stayed on to complete a fourth year in adult congenital cardiology at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto, California. He did his internal medicine and a pediatric residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York where he served as chief resident his final year. He currently is boarded in pediatrics, internal medicine, pediatric cardiology and adult congenital cardiology. He graduated Cum Laude at Upstate Medical University at Syracuse in Syracuse, New York.

Dr. Laks is a pediatric cardiologist who specializes in heart failure and transplantation. She sees patients as part of the Heart Transplant Program at the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Heart Institute. She joined the hospital staff in 2021. She was previously a pediatric cardiologist at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. Dr. Laks earned her medical degree from the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. She completed a residency in pediatrics at University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she also served as pediatric co-chief resident. She completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship, where she served as chief pediatric cardiology fellow, followed by additional training in a pediatric heart function and transplant fellowship both at the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. She earned her Master of Science in Community Health with a specialization in Health Practitioner Teacher Education from the University of Toronto. She has a special interest in medical education.
