Hernando Adult Education

Formerly known as Gary Public School, Gary Adult High School was established in 1912. The school provides a variety of career, technical and adult education programs. Located in Tampa, Fla., it offers courses in business education, computer technology, human resources and corporate training. Gary Adult High School also provides family literacy, GED testing and industrial technology programs. The school offers an adult cooperative training program that focuses in the development of social and independent living skills in people with disabilities. It provides an on-site job training program that includes merchandise handling, stocking and employment skills development topics. The school additionally offers apprenticeship programs in the fields of carpentry, child care, electricity and diesel technology. Gary Adult High School is governed by Hillsborough County Public Schools.

West Area Adult School is a learning center that is a part of Polk County Public Schools. The school provides a variety of programs for students over 16 years of age. It offers English for Speakers of Other Languages and computer education programs to more than 770 students. The school also provides high school diploma programs and conducts classes that prepare students for GED exams. West Area Adult School s family literacy program includes child care for children between the ages of 2 and 5. The school also provides career-related guidance counseling and financial aid. It organizes guest lectures by speakers from various colleges and vocational and technical educational institutions. Located in Lakeland, Fla., West Area Adult School additionally conducts field trips.
