About Huntingdon Huntingdon HealthCare was founded to provide psychiatric rehabilitation to those in need of diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. Huntingdon HealthCare's program has been carefully developed to assist adults with mental illness to achieve their highest level of independence and functioning. Located in Fort Myers, our in house employees support a consulting staff of over 20 psychiatric medical professionals who provide services to more than 140 skilled nursing facilities throughout Florida. Our model of care provides a psychologist (employed by PsychCare Associates based in Orlando) and a psychiatrist assigned to each facility. Psychologists perform initial evaluations, and when appropriate, refer our psychiatrists to the patient for medication management. This provides continuity of care for the patients as well as addressing their needs for behavioral therapy, supportive therapy, family therapy and medical interventions. Our psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners serve as consultants to the facility's attending physician and nursing staff, lending the medical expertise to improve quality of life issues for their patients.
