History
Great Lakes Carpet & Tile has been your family owned and operated specialty floor covering business in the Central Florida area since 1991, recognized as one of Floor Covering Weekly's Top 50 specialty retail dealers in the USA. Joe & Laverne Hearns opened the first Great Lakes store in The Villages, FL a couple years after retiring from a small town in Northern Michigan. Darren Hearns took over the business in 1998 after Joe's passing, and has since grown Great Lakes from 1 Central Florida location to 4, offering carpet, area rugs, sheet vinyl, laminate, hardwood, cork, bamboo, ceramic tile and brick pavers, as well as carpet cleaning and floor care services.

Great Lakes Carpet & Tile has been a family owned and operated specialty floor covering business in the Central Florida area since 1991. Today the company has grown from one location into three retail locations which all feature a full line of floor covering including carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl tile, luxury vinyl plank, sheet vinyl, cork, bamboo, ceramic tile and area rugs. Great Lakes Carpet & Tile has been recognized as one of Floor Covering Weekly's Top 50 specialty retail dealers in the USA. Equally, they have also been nominated as Mohawk Floorscapes Dealer of the Year (3) times since joining the program in 2000 and have the distinct honor of winning the National Award in 2001. In addition to their retail operation and new home construction business, Great Lakes also has a separate Commercial Division as well as a Carpet Cleaning Division using the Mohawk Floor Care System.
