The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects conserves and manages Florida's natural resources and enforces the state's environmental laws. The department includes three primary areas: regulatory programs, land and recreation, and policy and planning. Based in Tallahassee, Fla., it overseas and manages Florida's state parks and trail systems, along with protecting habitat for 190 native and endangered animals and plants. Additionally, The Department of Environmental Protection (DEIP) restores ecosystems throughout the state and administers air pollution control programs.
