Fernando A. Moya, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care. Dr. Moya specializes in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine, including the care of knees and shoulders. He speaks English and Spanish. Prior to joining Baptist Health Orthopedic Care in 2022, Dr. Moya worked as an orthopedic surgeon and the director of joint surgery with Sports Medicine Associates of South Florida.Along with his medical degree, Dr. Moya holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. He also completed postdoctoral research fellowships at Harvard University and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. He has been published in numerous pharmacological medical journals and is a fellow and member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.Dr. Moya is passionate about meeting patients every day and finding solutions to help them recover to live healthy lives. Using his medical, pharmacological and surgical backgrounds, he takes a holistic approach when working with each patient to find the right treatment option for them.Dr. Moya provided medical coverage for the Miami Open ATP, WTA, and the MLS InterMiami CF from 2022-2023.In his free time, Dr. Moya enjoys sports of all kinds and at every level. Previously, Dr. Swartzon provided medical care for El Clásico Barcelona vs Real Madrid, the World Golf Championship, the University of New Mexico Lobos basketball team, Mountain West conference championship, NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, New Mexico state rodeo and the USA Track and Field Indoor Championship. His specialties include stem cell, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and amniotic regenerative orthobiological therapy. He performs orthopedic ultrasound diagnostics and ultrasound-guided procedures. He is also a certified FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) and performs physicals for pilots. As a South Florida native, Dr. Swartzon is an avid fan of local sports teams.
