Exceptional Students Education

Exceptional Student Education (ESE) of Leon County Schools serves children with mental and physical disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. The program also serves dual-sensory, speech, language and visually impaired students. Its McKay Scholarships Program offers educational and recreational services for approximately 8,000 students. The program allows transferring students in another public school within the same school district. Exceptional Student Education serves gifted students in their home schools and the Academic Resource Center, which is a gifted center that serves students in kindergarten through grade five a part-time and resource basis. The program offers hospital and homebound services to students suffering from medically diagnosed physical and mental conditions. It operates from Tallahassee, Fla., and is governed by Leon County Schools.
