Eleftheria Kalogera, M.D. M.Sc., is a gynecologic oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Kalogera specializes in treating gynecologic cancers, including the surgical and medical management of ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers. She is fluent in English, Greek, French and Spanish. Dr. Kalogera joined Miami Cancer Institute from the Mayo Clinic, where she completed her training. During her residency, Dr. Kalogera pursued a clinical investigator track, which included an additional year of training. During that time, she earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science. During her fellowship, she was named an assistant professor in obstetrics and gynecology at the Mayo Clinic. In addition to helping individual patients, Dr. Kalogera is passionate about gynecologic oncology research, with the ultimate goal of helping patients at a broader level. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences and has published her work in leading peer-reviewed publications, including the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer. Dr. Kalogera also serves as a reviewer for many scientific publications. During her research fellowship, she, along with an expert research team, was the recipient of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Excellence Through Teamwork Award for serving as co-principal investigator in the Departmental and Multidisciplinary Quality Improvement project, “Enhanced Recovery in Gynecologic Surgery.” This continuing work on Enhanced Recovery After Surgery revolutionized the perioperative care model and has resulted in a major paradigm shift in the gynecologic surgical practice. Dr. Kalogera believes in a compassionate and holistic approach to cancer care, where the importance of respecting and responding to patients’ needs comes first as the foundation of any treatment plan.Her work as a gynecologic oncologist allows her to help patients and their families navigate a challenging and intimate period of their lives. Dr. Kalogera is honored and humbled by the special bond she shares with each woman she treats. When she is not treating patients, Dr. Kalogera enjoys spending time with her significant other and their English bulldog. They love exploring Miami and the outdoors, traveling, CrossFit, and waterskiing.

Murugesan Manoharan, M.D., FRACS, is a surgical urologic oncologist and the chief of urologic oncology surgery at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Manoharan specializes in the treatment of genitourinary cancers, including bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular cancer. Dr. Manoharan also serves as the chairman of the Department of Urology at Baptist Health South Florida and a professor of urology at Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine, Florida International University.In 2022, the Abbhi Family Endowed Chair in Urologic Oncology was created to help Dr. Manoharan and the Institute conduct research and clinical trials to improve survival rates and quality of life for patients with bladder cancer.He joined Miami Cancer Institute from the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he served as one of the site disease group leaders for genitourinary cancers. He also practiced urology at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Miami.Dr. Manoharan is a renowned leader in the treatment of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and other urologic malignancies. He is an expert in minimally invasive surgery, including nerve sparing robotic prostatectomy, robotic kidney surgery, robotic bladder removal and neobladder reconstruction. Dr. Manoharan was one of the first urologists in the United States to perform robotic bladder removal surgery and reconstruction of neobladder using a Pfannenstiel incision. He also specializes in other minimally invasive ablative cancer procedures, such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy, cryotherapy and the NanoKnife procedure to treat prostate cancer. He has extensive experience training medical students, residents and oncology fellows. He has won numerous awards for his teaching and clinical excellence, as well as his research work. Dr. Manoharan’s research interests include stem cell applications, biomarkers and cancer outcomes. He serves as an editorial reviewer for several scientific publications. He is also widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals and is an invited speaker at national and international scientific symposiums. Dr. Manoharan has authored more than 140 scientific articles and 15 textbook chapters and has presented papers and posters at more than 100 national and international meetings. He served as vice chairman and a member of the International Bladder Cancer Guidelines committee, organized by the WHO and Société Internationale d'Urologie.When he is not treating patients, Dr. Manoharan enjoys music and traveling.

John Paul Diaz, MD

John P. Diaz, M.D., FACOG, FACS, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist and holds multiple leadership roles at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, including chief of gynecologic oncology, director of robotic surgery and director of clinical research in gynecologic oncology. He also serves as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. Dr. Diaz provides comprehensive and compassionate gynecologic cancer care for women with endometrial, ovarian, cervical, vaginal or vulvar cancer. He has extensive training and experience in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, which results in shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times for patients. A surgical innovator, Dr. Diaz has helped pioneer novel procedures such as fertility-sparing radical trachelectomy for early-stage cervical cancer and sentinel lymph node mapping in gynecologic malignancies. He also performed Florida’s first uterine transposition procedure for a patient with gynecologic cancer, preserving reproductive potential in a groundbreaking approach. Under the direction of Dr. Diaz, Miami Cancer Institute’s gynecologic oncology research and clinical trials program offers innovative treatments and advanced technologies to women in South Florida. His research interests include new surgical methods for ovarian cancer and innovative cancer therapies like hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy and immunotherapy. He was awarded a $1.7 million research grant to investigate novel therapeutics for the treatment of gynecologic cancers. Dr. Diaz has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his research at scientific symposiums. He serves as a reviewer for Gynecologic Oncology, BioMed Cancer, International Journal of Gynecologic Oncology and the Annals of Surgical Oncology. He also holds several leadership and committee positions within such professional organizations as the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Diaz earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society, the university’s highest honor. He completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
