Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens, also known locally as Sugar Mill Gardens, is the perfect spot to relax when you're taking a break from the beaches or Daytona International Speedway. Wander the manicured paths beneath ancient trees as you take in the historical ruins and sites or just enjoy the vast array of Florida plants. Children will have fun finding the many life-sized dinosaur sculptures throughout. Path surfaces are hard-packed shell and should not pose a problem for wheelchairs.

Dunlawton Sugar Mill Gardens is open from 8:00 A.M. until seasonally adjusted times seven days a week. Guided tours must be scheduled two weeks in advance. Closed Christmas. Professional photographers are welcome, but must make an appointment.

Admission is free. Donations are appreciated and help maintain the gardens.

Must See/Do at Sugar Mill Gardens
Check out the human sundial, and let your shadow tell you the time. Visit nature's chapel and the sugar mill ruins. The confederate oak (over 250 years old) sprawls with history, as it is rumored to have provided shelter for Civil War soldiers. Stop by the library on the grounds. Don't forget to pick up a plant for a small donation.

Other Places to Visit near Sugar Mill Gardens
Food and drinks are not allowed in the gardens, so if you've worked up an appetite, you're just a short drive from Giuseppe's Steel City Pizza, (stone baked pies in a sports environment). In the opposite direction, you'll find Aunt Catfish's on the River, a favorite of locals and tourists. Aunt Catfish's is famous for down south river cookin'. Their homemade cinnamon rolls keep guests coming back year after year.

Insider Tip for Visitors to Sugar Mill Gardens
Food, drinks, smoking and pets are not permitted. Water fountains and well-maintained restrooms are located left of the entrance gate. There are many benches throughout the grounds.
