Board-Certified Optometrist Dr. Denise Foran Billings was born and raised in Michigan, received her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from Michigan College of Optometry (formerly Ferris State University, College of Optometry) magna cum laude in 1982. Dr. Billings moved to Florida in 1984 and established her own practice in Port Charlotte in 1986. She was nominated and accepted as a Fellow in The American Academy of Optometry (AAO) in 1999. As an optometrist, she enjoys seeing patients of all ages! Dr. Billings has decades of experience seeing patients, fitting contact lenses and working with Low Vision patients. She treats each patient as she would a family member, with respect, compassion and kindness.

During Dr. Priest-Allen's Glaucoma fellowship, she learned the most advanced treatments and surgical techniques for treating patients with all stages of glaucoma, from mild to advanced cases. She also participated in pioneering research that has contributed to the development of effective, advanced treatment options for glaucoma patients. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the United States and often has no symptoms. Glaucoma can gradually damage your vision so you may not notice any loss of vision until the disease is at an advanced stage.
