Daniel Roberto Martinez, MD

Ryan Matthew Kahn, M.D., MHS, FACOG, is a gynecologic oncologist at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute. He specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques, particularly robotic-assisted surgery. When appropriate, this approach offers patients faster recovery, less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays and improved cosmetic outcomes. Dr. Kahn incorporates clinical genetics in his practice to improve care and prevention strategies for patients and families carrying BRCA and other hereditary breast and ovarian cancer gene variants. He also specializes in ovarian cancer cytoreductive surgery, which aims to remove all visible disease during ovarian cancer surgery. This approach has been consistently linked to improved patient survival. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and a master’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, Dr. Kahn earned his medical degree with research distinction at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed a four-year obstetrics and gynecology residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital – Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City. He remained in New York for four more years to complete a gynecologic oncology fellowship at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. During his fellowship, Dr. Kahn was actively involved in research focused on innovative immunotherapies for ovarian cancer. His positive research results, which included delayed tumor growth and a transformed tumor microenvironment, offer a promising rationale for clinical trials in patients with advanced ovarian cancer. He also conducted research on the regionalization of care for gynecologic malignancies, which involves directing complex surgical procedures to specialized, high-volume centers and surgeons to improve patient outcomes by leveraging the expertise and experience of these centers. Dr. Kahn has published his research work in medical journals and textbooks presented his findings at national symposiums. He participated in the New York City Marathon every year during his four-year fellowship and plans to run the Miami Marathon and participate in Bounce Back from Cancer in support of gynecologic cancer programs at Miami Cancer Institute.

Adeel Kaiser, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute and clinical associate professor at Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal and genitourinary cancers using proton beam, IMRT, and theranostic and MRI-guided adaptive therapies. He aims to provide each patient with a personalized, integrative treatment strategy for their cancer by incorporating complementary therapies with state-of-the-art radiation technology. Dr. Kaiser attained his undergraduate and medical degrees from Johns Hopkins University and completed his radiation oncology training at the University of California Irvine/City of Hope Integrated Program in Radiation Oncology. Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute, he held faculty appointments at the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins University and Loma Linda University. At the University of Maryland, he served as director of the Advanced Modalities Fellowship Program. This program trained national and international students in emerging radiation oncology modalities, including pencil beam proton therapy, GammaPod radiosurgery and deep tissue hyperthermia. Dr. Kaiser also served as instructor of the Varian Proton Therapy School as well as director of the Integrative Wellness Program at the Maryland Proton Treatment Center, which sought to incorporate diet, exercise, acupuncture and emotional support strategies with radiation therapy. Dr. Kaiser is widely published in peer-reviewed medical journals. He has led multiple clinical trials and was the first radiation oncologist to lead an NIH-funded ketogenic diet pilot study for patients undergoing active surveillance for prostate cancer. Dr. Kaiser is fluent in English, Urdu and Hindi.

Yonatan Weiss, M.D., is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Weiss specializes in treating thoracic, central nervous system and gynecologic cancers with expertise including advanced technologies such as Gamma Knife radiosurgery and interstitial brachytherapy. Prior to joining Miami Cancer Institute in 2022, he was a clinical instructor in the radiation oncology department at the University of California Los Angeles. Dr. Weiss also served as chief resident at the Princess Margaret and Odette Cancer Centres, the premier cancer programs in Canada. Before beginning medical training, he worked in cancer research investigating DNA repair in organisms that were resistant to radiation. His research has been presented at national and international scientific conferences. Dr. Weiss’ approach to patient care is to develop a strong partnership with patients, their families and the entire healthcare team. He believes in frequent, proactive communication for effective treatment plans. When he is not treating patients, he likes swimming, playing pickleball, going to the beach, and playing the piano and trombone.
