Headquartered in Hialeah, Fla., Community Blood Centers of South Florida is a nonprofit, voluntary blood collection agency. Founded in 1975, the blood center operates 18 donor centers that are located in Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties in South Florida. Additionally, it has more than 25 bloodmobiles travel throughout the community on a scheduled basis visiting businesses, churches, synagogues, government agencies and schools. The blood center in Hialeah houses recruitment, administrative and warehouse personnel, operates two laboratories, and has its own hospital services department. Its clinical services include flow cytometry laboratory; apheresis services, physician consultation services and educational services. Community Blood Centers of South Florida is a member of the American Association of Blood Banks, America's Blood Centers, Florida Association of Blood Banks and the American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics. The center is also a donor center for the National Marrow Donor Program.
