Eleftheria Kalogera, M.D. M.Sc., is a gynecologic oncologist at Miami Cancer Institute. Dr. Kalogera specializes in treating gynecologic cancers, including the surgical and medical management of ovarian, uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers. She is fluent in English, Greek, French and Spanish. Dr. Kalogera joined Miami Cancer Institute from the Mayo Clinic, where she completed her training. During her residency, Dr. Kalogera pursued a clinical investigator track, which included an additional year of training. During that time, she earned a Master of Science in Clinical and Translational Science. During her fellowship, she was named an assistant professor in obstetrics and gynecology at the Mayo Clinic. In addition to helping individual patients, Dr. Kalogera is passionate about gynecologic oncology research, with the ultimate goal of helping patients at a broader level. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences and has published her work in leading peer-reviewed publications, including the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Gynecologic Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the International Journal of Gynecologic Cancer. Dr. Kalogera also serves as a reviewer for many scientific publications. During her research fellowship, she, along with an expert research team, was the recipient of the prestigious Mayo Clinic Excellence Through Teamwork Award for serving as co-principal investigator in the Departmental and Multidisciplinary Quality Improvement project, Enhanced Recovery in Gynecologic Surgery. This continuing work on Enhanced Recovery After Surgery revolutionized the perioperative care model and has resulted in a major paradigm shift in the gynecologic surgical practice.
