I spent 12 years learning about the industry and the business by working for my father, who was a State Farm agent at the beach. When he retired, I went to work as an agent for Florida Farm Bureau. My ten years with them opened my eyes even more to the insurance industry. I learned about brokering insurance. As a captive agent, my hands were tied. I had limited products to offer my clients. I wanted so much to take care of all of my clients' insurance needs and felt awful when I had to tell them I couldn't. In October of 2005 I decided to retire from Florida Farm Bureau and open up my own independent agency at the beach. I wanted to be able to help my clients as much as I possibly could. I wanted to be able to say YES. I was born David Barnette outside of London, England. Growing up, I moved with my family around the world, following Dad's military career. By 1963, we had arrived in Jacksonville and began to establish roots. Four years later, we permanently settled at the beaches. In love with the coastal region, I bought my own Ponte Vedra home in 1983. I married my beautiful wife Kim and have one son who recently left the nest. We adopted two new cats. Oddly enough, they're all so much alikethe three of them love to just lie around and do nothing!
