Carlos Mauricio Millan, M.D., is a neurologist at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute specializing in the treatment of epilepsy, including complex cases of pharmacoresistant (drug-resistant) epilepsy. Dr. Millan earned his medical degree at Universidad El Bosque in Bogotá, Colombia. He served as chief resident during his neurology residency at Universidad El Bosque & Fundacion Santa Fe de Bogota in Colombia. He also completed six years of training that included an internal medicine internship, neurology residency and epilepsy fellowship at Jackson Health System, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Millan conducts research in epilepsy and is published in peer-reviewed publications. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. To provide the very best care, Dr. Millan takes time to listen to his patients and pay attention to small details. Effective physician-patient communication, he says, results in increased patient trust and greater therapeutic efficacy. Dr. Millan is fluent in English and Spanish. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his two children and playing tennis.

Italo Linfante, M.D, is the co-director of interventional neuroradiology at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. Dr. Linfante specializes in endovascular procedures and interventional neuroradiology. He is fluent in English and Italian. Dr. Linfante joined Miami Neuroscience Institute from Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute, where he served as medical director of interventional neuroradiology. He is currently a clinical professor of radiology and neuroscience at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. He previously served as an associate professor of neurology and radiology in the University of Massachusetts’ Section of Neuroendovascular Surgery/Interventional Neuroradiology and was attending physician in Neuro Endovascular Surgery at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Linfante has participated in major clinical trials in medications and device-related technology to treat stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases. He has lectured nationally and internationally on related topics. Dr. Linfante has been a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Stroke since 2002 and an associate editor for the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He has also been an editor for several other major peer-reviewed medical journals in neurosurgery and neuroradiology. He is the author of scientific articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as Stroke, Neurology, Neurosurgery and the Journal of NeuroInterventional Surgery. He has published numerous book chapters and books on stroke and cerebrovascular diseases. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Specialties in Neurology and Vascular Neurology and Diplomate in NeuroEndovascular Surgery from the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). Dr. Linfante holds several leadership positions in neuroendovascular surgery. He is a founding member and was president of the Society for Interventional Neurology (SVIN). He also served on the Executive Committee of the Society for Neuro Interventional Surgery (SNIS). He has been the chairman of several sessions and scientific symposiums of the American Heart Association (AHA) and American Stroke Association (ASA). In addition, he served as chairman and faculty of the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN), the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, and the International Symposium of Endovascular Therapy (ISET). He has received numerous awards, including the Fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA) and Stroke Council, Cum Laude Award of the American Society of Neuroradiology, Cor Vitae Award from the American Heart Association and others. When he is not treating patients, Dr. Linfante enjoys running, tennis, swimming, music, playing the guitar and traveling.

Luis Felipe Tornes, M.D., is a neurologist and the director of the epilepsy program at Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. He is fluent in English and Spanish. Dr. Tornes earned his medical degree from Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine. He then completed a neurology residency followed by a clinical neurophysiology fellowship at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine/Jackson Memorial Hospital System. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. As a neurologist, Dr. Tornes is deeply passionate about the profound impact his specialty can have on his patients’ lives. He is committed to holistic care for his patients, including their emotional and mental well-being and is dedicated to helping them be active participants in their treatment plans. In his free time, Dr. Tornes enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
