Calhoun Correctional Institution, governed by the Florida Department of Corrections, houses more than 1,400 adult male inmates. Established in 1988, the institution has a staff of over 300 employees. It has the cell, room and open-bay types of housing units. Calhoun Correctional Institution offers a variety of wellness education, inmate fitness and substance abuse treatment programs. In addition, the institution provides vocational training programs in graphics arts and printing and Web design services. It also offers transition skills training and anger and stress management programs. Calhoun Correctional Institution provides chapel, worship and religious education services. The institution organizes seminars and workshops to enhance the self-confidence of inmates.
