Built in 1924, this architectural gem combines functionality with artistry, featuring a lighthouse-like facade designed by Merrick's uncle, Denman Fink, that cleverly conceals the utilitarian water tank within.
Once a vital component of the city's water supply system, the tower was abandoned in 1931, only to be saved from demolition by concerned citizens and the City of Coral Gables in 1958. After extensive restoration in 1993, it was added to the Coral Gables Register of Historic Places in 1998, solidifying its status as a peaceful and majestic landmark within the Miami-Dade area.
