History
As early as the 1980's - just a few years into the SUN 'n FUN Fly-In - founding director Billy Henderson and others envisioned an aviation museum to anchor the campus and provide a year-round educational and historic presence. Formal planning began in 1983 by a museum committee that interviewed architects, solicited land from the City of Lakeland, and secured the present museum location on the SUN 'n FUN Fly-In property southwest of Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. We visited this cool little museum on Kids Day, so it was free! Normally, it's $15 per person, which might be a bit steep unless you're a huge airplane enthusiast. The family annual pass is $100,...

They are having a fun balloon event here with kid friendly activities. The planes are really cool and there are lots to see. The event is nice and there are lots of food drinks and stuff to do....

Here I disagree with AAA that called this a "gem". I love planes, but this museum is small and overpriced for what they offer. There are other planes outside, but inaccessible like the Boeing 727...

I took my 2 year old son here because he likes airplanes. It's not the biggest air museum by amy stretch but he and I had a great time! The great thing is that there are plenty things for children...
