History

Established in 1975. In 1975, Father William Wendt, an Episcopal parish priest, founded the St. Francis Center to support people coping with the death of a loved one. Following Father Wendt's death in 2001 at the age of 81, the organization was renamed the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing. Our community is a vastly different place today than it was when we first opened our doors. Over time, our mission has evolved and deepened and we are doing more than ever before to help those who are living with grief, loss, life-threatening illness and trauma.
