Founded in 1847, the American Medical Association is one of the largest associations of physicians and medical students in the United States. The association publishes the Journal of the American Medical Association, which is one of the largest circulating weekly medical journals in the world. It also publishes a list of physician specialty codes that are a standard method in the U.S. for identifying physician and practice specialties. Headquartered in Chicago, the American Medical Association offers funds for several awareness projects about health literacy. In addition, its American Medical Association Alliance is one of the largest organizations that represents family of medicine in the United States. The association offers legislative advocacy support for physician issues, publications and resources to support community health initiatives. The American Medical Association operates the Litigation Center, which is an unincorporated association that enhances the policies of the association through the American legal system, including courts, administrative agencies and alternative dispute bodies. It maintains a location in Washington, D.C.

The National Association of State Directors of Career Technical Education Consortium, located in Washington, D.C., is a professional society of the state and territory agency heads responsible for career technical education. Founded in 1920, NASDCTEc has a membership of more than 200 senior state staff and individuals that work to ensure quality career technical education at the secondary, postsecondary and adult levels. The association is governed by a board of directors comprising 16 members that include one associate member representative and four officers. NASDCTEc hosts two national meetings every year that provide information on legislation, research, and emerging issues important to career technical education. It maintains an active listing service system for state directors, and publishes a monthly electronic newsletter.

Association for Financial Professionals serves financial professionals with education and training for treasury management and corporate finance. It supports more than 14,000 individual members from a wide range of industries through different stages of their careers in various aspects of treasury and financial management. AFP provides continuing education, financial tools and publications, career development, certifications, research, representation to legislators and regulators and assists in the development of industry standards. AFP offers two award programs, including AFP Pinnacle Award that is presented annually to organizations whose finance and treasury professionals have developed innovative solutions to address efficiency and risk management and AFP 300 that is a list of high ranking certified treasury professionals by title and career success. It is based in Bethesda, Md.
