Based in Washington D.C., the National Press Club framed its constitution in 1908. Its members include all of the presidents of the United States since Theodore Roosevelt. It promotes social awareness, cultivates literary taste and encourages friendly intercourse among newspapermen and the members. It organizes luncheons each year and provides a national forum for the views of presidents, prime ministers, business and cultural leaders, members of the cabinet and congress. The club provides a wide range of facilities and services that include meeting rooms, classrooms and audiovisual and webcast and satellite services. In addition, it offers high-speed direct cable transmission of live video and audio from every press conference room to news bureaus. The National Press Club also coordinates all video and audio transmissions in and out of the club through its audiovisual department.
