CulturalDC proudly presents The Barbershop Project, an immersive art installation transforming a Mobile Art Gallery into a reimagined barbershop that explores themes of identity, care, and belonging, particularly within Black and LGBTQ communities. Originally launched in 2019, this interactive experience offers free haircuts in partnership with DC Public Library, emphasizing the barbershop's role as a vital space for self-expression and community connection.

In 2025, the project features an esteemed team of barbers, including Brixton Millner, Lesley "Lady Clipper" Bryant, Eric Jackson, and Akil Wilson, each dedicated to offering haircuts that promote dignity and inclusivity. Their collective efforts not only provide grooming services but also foster healing and transformation, reinforcing the barbershop's significance as a cornerstone of community culture.
