Jeannie Hoffman-Censits, MD

Dr. Mark Markowski is a medical oncologist at the Kimmel Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital, as well as an Associate Professor in the Department of Oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Markowski participates in multidisciplinary clinics at Sibley and The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and sees patients in the genitourinary clinics of both hospitals. Dr. Markowski treats numerous types of cancers, with a specialty in prostate and kidney cancers. Dr. Markowski earned his medical degree and Ph.D. in tumor biology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Columbia University, followed by a medical oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Markowski previously served as a research associate at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University. His research interests focus on early phase drug development for prostate cancer, as well a non-castrating therapies for patients with metastatic disease. Dr. Markowski is currently conducting research with funding from a Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program Award and a Challenge Award from the Prostate Cancer Foundation, which focuses on new treatment strategies for prostate cancer patients.

Dr. Susan Scott is a thoracic medical oncologist with the Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital and Assistant Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Scott has expertise in thoracic malignancies, including non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer and pulmonary carcinoid tumors, as well as thymic malignancies. She leads the EGFR and HER2 lung cancer research program for Johns Hopkins. Dr. Scott received her undergraduate education at the University of Oxford, UK and medical doctorate from Yale University. She completed residency at the Cleveland Clinic where she also served as Chief Resident in Internal Medicine. Dr. Scott joined Johns Hopkins Oncology for fellowship training in Baltimore and was recruited to the thoracic oncology program to continue work as a physician and clinical scientist focused in lung cancer. Dr. Scott and her team are committed to providing compassionate and individualized care to their patients, including state-of-the-art therapies and clinical trials. Her research interests include clinical trials in resectable lung cancer, innovative applications of immunotherapy, and novel targeted therapies, especially EGFR- and HER2-mutated lung cancers. Dr. Scott is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR), and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).

Khaled M. El-Shami, M.B.Ch.B., Ph.D., is a medical oncologist at Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center at Sibley Memorial Hospital, as well as an assistant professor of oncology in the Division of Hematologic Malignancies at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. El-Shami graduated from Alexandria University Faculty of Medicine in Alexandria, Egypt, where he did a residency in the Department of Neurosurgery. He was a Chevening Scholar as a M.S. student in molecular genetics at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, as well as a Sam Cohen Windhoek Scholar as a Ph.D. student in cancer immunology at the Weizmann Institute in Israel. Dr. El-Shami also completed a residency in internal medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine, a fellowship in tumor immunology and biology at the National Cancer Institute, and a fellowship in medical oncology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. El-Shami previously served as faculty at Georgetown University and George Washington University. Dr. El-Shami has been named a Top Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine for several years. Dr. El-Shami is a member of the American Association for Advancement of Science, the American Association of Cancer Research, the American Association of Immunologists, the American Society for Gene Therapy and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. El-Shami's research focus is on hematologic malignancies, including acute and chronic leukemias, myelodysplastic syndromes, myeloprolifetive neplasms and lymphomas. He has received the National Institutes of Health Clinical Research Scholars Award, an American Medical Association Seed Grant and an American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Award.
