District of Columbia Academy

United Planning Organization is a nonprofit corporation that has been providing human services since 1962. It conducts early child education, youth development and computer training classes. The corporation provides food handling and management training programs. It specializes in the areas of health and nutrition, economic and environmental development, employment, housing and consumer affairs. United Planning Organization also offers childhood development, employment training and substance abuse treatment services. Its programs are funded through various local, federal and private funding sources. The corporation additionally provides medical, life-support transportation, pickup and delivery services to senior citizens and people with disabilities. It is a member of various organizations, including the National Community Action Foundation, District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the National Capital Area, Washington Council of Agencies and National Head Start Association. United Planning Organization maintains a location in Washington, D.C.

The Northwest Settlement House Infant and Toddler Early Learning Center provides stimulating and nurturing child care for infants and toddlers ages 6 weeks to 3 years. We are an intimate organization serving no more than 44 families in our daytime program. In September 2009, the Infant and Toddler Early Learning Center was opened to compete with the start of the art Providers in the Washington, DC Area. Our Center is bright, full of windows and can be viewed from the 7th Street side. We are located on the 1st floor of the Madison Haven Apartments, directly across from the Shaw/Howard Metro Station. Entrance is on the S Street side. The Center is currently accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
