History

Our business began when our founder, Julie Kirkwood, saw the immense difference healthy vegetables had on her two sons, physically and mentally. She observed the difference between processed foods and healthy vegetables had on her two kids which then propelled her to start a non-profit urban farm in DC's food deserts, DC UrbanGreens. Not only does DC UrbanGreens grow fresh produce for our food desert neighborhoods, we employ right from the neighborhood, offer engagement and education opportunities, field trips, and farm stands.

Specialties

Our mission is to feed bodies, nourish minds and build communities in DC's food deserts. We grow high volumes of produce at our urban farms located in DC

I LOVE the vegetables that I get from this CSA. It's a lot for only $20 a week ($25 if you include fruit). It also helps that it's right on Ely Place SE, 10minutes from my house. I recommend this...
