The Department of Corrections, also known as DOC, is a part of the government of the District of Columbia. Established in 1946, the department operates the Central Detention Facility, which has a capacity of more than 2,160 inmates. It works in collaboration with various private and independently operated halfway houses. The Department of Corrections uses the Victim Information and Notification Everyday system. The department also offers automated inmate account deposit services. It provides education, intervention, and individual and group counseling solutions. The Department of Corrections administers AIDS prevention program, as well as offers religious, anger management and Hispanic life skills development services.
