History
We are a husband-and-wife team of passionate music educators with many years of teaching experience. We received our education from The Juilliard School and Columbia University and have recently moved to D.C. to further our careers. Our teaching philosophy revolves around student-centered education. We believe in the potential of our students and believe talent can be nurtured. Therefore, our pedagogy involves encouraging each student to develop their critical thinking through music, thereby empowering them to be motivated by the music he or she practices, performs, or composes. At Columbia Music Studio, we strive to give students agency through engaging in a deeper thought process than simply mirroring the instructor. The learning process is never linear and it requires both the instructor and student to work collaboratively. We are excited to have the opportunity to work with you to explore the joy of music learning!
