Batal Washington DC is an all-women Afro-Brazilian music band that brings the vibrant rhythms of Samba-Reggae from Salvador Bahia to the Washington DC area. Founded in 2007, it empowers women through drumming and fosters a deeper appreciation for Brazil’s dynamic Afro-Bahia culture.
As part of the global Batal movement, Batal Washington not only enriches its members' lives but also supports cultural exchange and community engagement. All instruments and costumes are crafted in Salvador Bahia, contributing to local social programs that provide employment and strengthen cultural ties.
