History

The Amstel House Museum is owned and operated by the New Castle Historical Society. NCHS was formed to operate the house as a museum. Since then, the Society has grown to include 2 historic houses, an exhibit space, and the New Castle Visitor Center at The Arsenal.

Specialties

The Amstel House Museum is the first mansion in Delaware and home to an early governor. The family had many important friends, including George Washington, who attended a wedding in the Amstel House.
