Mount Zion AME
Mount Zion AME Church, established in 1900, began as a small gathering of Ellendale residents worshipping in an old field house. Over the years, the church has evolved, moving to the Ellendale Colored School and eventually constructing a new sanctuary dedicated in 1970, along with additional facilities to serve the community.
Known as the "lighthouse on Beach Highway," Mount Zion AME Church continues to meet the spiritual and social needs of Ellendale and its surrounding areas. The church has also expanded its mission by acquiring properties for recreation and development, including the New Hope Recreation and Development Center and a cemetery.
