Convent of Saint John the Baptist
The Convent of Saint John the Baptist in Summerville, SC is an all-male religious community within the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Composed of lay-brothers and clerics, they adhere strictly to the Doctrines, Dogmas, and Teachings of the pre-Vatican II Roman Catholic Church, offering the traditional Latin Mass and following the Rule of St. Francis of Assisi as Conventual Franciscans. As an exempt institute of Pontifical Jurisdiction, the Order of Friars Minor Conventual, to which the Convent belongs, is not subject to the authority of any diocesan bishop but is solely and completely under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Pontiff. They operate their own churches, chapels, schools, hospitals, and charitable organizations, and offer the Sacraments and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass according to the Rituale Romano-Seraphicum 1942 and Missale Romano-Seraphicum 1942.
