Torrington Public Works

Torrington Public Works Department provides essential services to plan, design, construct, manage, operate and preserve infrastructure systems of Torrington, Conn. Its various divisions include parks, street, engineering, solid waste, water pollution control, streetlights, and water department. The city s engineering division is responsible for reviewing design elements of all projects, subdivisions and developments, monitoring and inspecting construction of city projects, maintaining surveys and plans of past projects and streets, and responding to public enquiries. The public work department is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all streetlights in public streets and grounds. Its water supply division supplies treated, filtered water purchased from the Torrington Water Company, and serves more than 250 customers in the city. Torrington Public Works Department also includes a water pollution control authority that operates a regional septage receiving facility for septic tank waste disposal, and a regional grease receiving facility for the disposal of nonrenderable grease from grease traps.
