Stamford Symphony Led by Music Director Eckart Preu, the Stamford Symphony is an ensemble of professional musicians from New York City and its surrounding areas. In addition to the Stamford Symphony, these musicians perform with ensembles including the orchestras of the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, and New York City Opera, the American Symphony Orchestra, the New York Pops, the Orchestra of St. Luke's, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Philadelphia Orchestra. The Stamford Symphony is the resident orchestra at the Stamford Center for the Arts' Palace Theatre, in downtown Stamford, Connecticut. It is easily accessible from Interstate 95, has lots of low-cost nearby parking, and counts more than 200 restaurants within a mile of its doors. Each season, in addition to its HARMAN Orchestra Classics Series at the Palace Theatre, the Orchestra also performs at several other venues. It offers a mini-concert series for young people on Sunday afternoons at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, free summer pops concerts in Stamford's Columbus Park, and the Mozart & Friends recital series at the Steinway Piano Gallery of Westport, Connecticut. The Stern Showcase Recitals debut at the Palace Theatre this season. Subscriptions are available for all series, except for the summer pops programs, which are free.
