Stamford Public Education Foundation
The Stamford Public Education Foundation, located in Stamford, CT, was a network of local education funds (LEFs) that aimed to improve public education for disadvantaged children in high poverty school districts across the United States. Through their work with school districts and communities, they emphasized the importance of public engagement in education reform and advocated for the connection between quality public education and a thriving democracy.
Unfortunately, in 2012, the Public Education Network PEN closed its doors after 21 years of operation. During its existence, PEN brought the voice of LEFs and the communities they represented into the national education debate, raising awareness about the needs of disadvantaged children and working towards improving public education for all.
