Catholic Book Store

For over 50 years the Catholic Book Store has been the premier Catholic retailer in Connecticut and is pleased to offer a large selection of religious books, music, dvds, greeting cards, and unique spiritual gifts for all occasions. Our goal is to provide the best in religious literature and gift items, along with excellent customer service, in a warm, welcoming, spiritually uplifting environment. In 1960, Rev. Edward J. McLean founded the Catholic Information Center and Lending Library for the Archdiocese of Hartford, CT. This ministry was located on Market Street in Hartford in the old St. Anthony School building. Rev. McLean held classes and gave instruction to those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith. From this burgeoning ministry, the Catholic Book Store of the Archdiocese of Hartford was born, offering religious books and resources to Catholics in the area. Over the years the book store has continually evolved to meet the needs of Connecticut's Catholic community. In 1995, "The Bookmobile" a traveling van began bringing a selection of books and gifts to local parishes across Connecticut. Then in 2003, a smaller satellite store was opened at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, CT. Finally, in April 2010, because of changing demographics, the Market Street store was closed and was joined with the satellite store at the Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary, creating a brand new, beautifully expanded store.
