Sisters of Charity

The Sisters of Charity, established in 1874, are an international congregation with a rich history that began when the first sisters crossed the Atlantic to Connecticut. Over the years, they have expanded their mission and presence across various locations in the United States, fostering a community inspired by their charism.

Following the Second Vatican Council, the congregation underwent a renewal process, resulting in the formation of two groups, one of which became the Sisters of Our Lady Mother of the Church. The remaining Sisters of Charity continue to engage with companions who share their values, collectively known as the Friends of the SCMM.
