Dr. Dhruvakumar is the Director of Electrophysiology for Stamford Hospital and joined The Heart Physicians, now Stamford Health Medical Group, in February 2013. She is fellowship-trained in electrophysiology with expertise in device implantation and cardiac ablations. She also has advanced training in complex ablations including atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia and premature ventricular contractions. Dr. Dhruvakumar received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry with honors from Brown University. She then attended University of Massachusetts Medical College and completed an internship and residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She then went on to complete a cardiology fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and her electrophysiology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to coming to Stamford, she was Director of Electrophysiology and Assistant Professor of Medicine at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey — The University Hospital. Her innovations includes the design of an advanced 3-D mapping and imaging system in Stamford Hospital’s Electrophysiology lab that includes a state-of-the-art biplane procedure room with advanced analysis and recording equipment.

Joshua M. Lader

Dr. Lader is a fellowship-trained cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist who specializes in caring for conditions affecting the heart’s electrical system. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from New York University (NYU) and a medical degree from the NYU School of Medicine. He then completed his residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases and a fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, all at the NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Lader was initially drawn to the field while conducting research aimed at explaining some of the basic molecular underpinnings of atrial fibrillation. He believes that when targeted lifestyle modifications fall short, this and similar research will mark the beginning of an age where heart rhythm disturbances are treated, and even prevented, by targeted treatments at the molecular level. At Stamford Health, Dr. Lader provides a wide array of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for heart rhythm management. His clinical expertise covers a broad range of complex ablations, device implantation, lead management and extraction, as well as left atrial appendage closure techniques. As heart rhythm health is reflective of the health of the rest of the body, Dr. Lader takes advantage of the highly collaborative environment that the Stamford Health system provides to address rhythm disturbances from a multidisciplinary point of view. Dr. Lader believes that electrophysiology is a rapidly advancing field with continuously emerging technologies and approaches, all of which can have an immediate impact on patients’ longevity and quality of life.” Through both his clinical practice and research efforts, he is committed to ensuring an individualized approach to heart rhythm management.
